Network is generally the relationship between the sender and the Receiver.
A general networks comprises of:
  • Sender
  • Communication Channel Medium
  • Receiver
A computer network is an interconnection of two or more computer systems located at the same or different places. The purpose of network is to share the information among different users.
Types of Computer

Types Of Computer Networks

         A computer network is two or more computers connected together using a telecommunication system for the purpose of communication and sharing resources.
         Computers are used in different networks to communicate among themselves. We can easily send files, e-mails and do correspondence among each other.
There are three types of Computer Network available:
  1. LAN:Local Area Network 
  2. WAN:Wide Area Network 
  3. MAN: Metropolitan Area Network 
Local Area Network (LAN)
LAN is a group of computers and peripherals connected together by a way of Communication channel, which is capable of sharing files and other resources between several users.
Wide Area Network (WAN)
WAN is a network that connects user across larger distances. It is mainly used to connect across cities, states, or countries. The figure shows the arrangement of WAN across the globe.
Metropolitan Area Network (MAN)
MAN is a computer network that usually spans a city or a large campus. It usually interconnects a large number of LANs using a high capacity backbone technology, such as fiber optical links, and provides up-links services to wide area network,(WANs)and the internet.
